Sheffinea Koshy is currently pursuing her final year of her medical degree at the University of Galway, School of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry from Mount Royal University. Between her undergraduate and medical studies, Sheffinea has gained valuable research experience, particularly in women’s health. Sheffinea has worked as a summer student at EMBRACE Women’s Health lab since summer of 2023. She conducted clinical chart reviews culminating in a poster presentation on the Clinical Presentations and Phenotypes of PCOS at the 2023 Summer Student Research Symposium. She is currently leading a systematic review looking at administrative health case definitions for endometriosis.
Sheffinea is also an active member of the Women in Medicine Society at the University of Galway, serving as a year head representative. In this role, she helps coordinate and participates in various events organized by the society throughout the year. These events aim to empower women through education and health promotion. Sheffinea’s interest in women’s health stems from a desire to improve diagnosis and treatment through clinical medicine. Her diverse research experiences have fueled her passion for understanding disease states and enhancing patient care. She is particularly excited about the potential to advance women’s health through her ongoing research and future clinical practice.
