Halle Deakin is an MSc student in Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine, with a focus on Clinical Epidemiology. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Medical Sciences at Western University, specializing in Biochemistry and the Pathology of Human Disease. During her undergraduate studies, her thesis and summer research projects concentrated on biochemistry, including protein work, exploring novel chemical techniques and microscopy.
Building on this scientific foundation, Halle is now eager to apply her critical thinking and science communication skills to patient-oriented research. Her MSc thesis will explore the engagement of the PCOS Patient Advisory Committee, aiming to provide insights into how patients and healthcare providers can collaborate to enhance understanding of the condition.
Beyond academics, Halle enjoys staying active in research clubs, choreographing dances, volunteering in her community and playing intramural sports. During her break between degrees, she traveled across Asia, embracing new cultures and landscapes. She looks forward to joining the University of Calgary community and spending her free time exploring the nearby mountains.
