Afifa holds a BSc in Life Science, Chemistry, and Earth & Ocean Science from the University of British Columbia and is currently completing her BHSc in Public Health at the University of Lethbridge. Throughout her studies, she developed a strong interest in understanding, addressing, and improving population health outcomes through a social determinant of health lens, with particular emphasis on women’s sexual and reproductive health. Her interests align with EMBRACE Lab’s work examining the impact metabolic diseases have on reproductive outcomes. Outside her academics, Afifa actively volunteers for a STEM outreach association, supports Bengali community programs, engage in various arts and craft projects, cafe hopping, and reading mystery thriller novels.
