Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in females, however, we know very little about the diagnosis, management and natural history. We would like to use administrative health data available in Alberta to better understand how PMOS affects people living in Alberta. The first step to do this, is to validate a PMOS case definition that can accurately identify people with and without PMOS in the data. This will allow us to determine the impact of PMOS in Alberta in terms of health outcomes and economic impact to guide health policy and health interventions. Preliminary results from this work were presented at the Diabetes Canada/Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism conference in November 2024.
